Mr. Leslie Blair Wright, aka Pap, was a dedicated family man married to his precious wife, Mary Jane (Guernsey) Wright for 73 years. Mr. Wright went to his heavenly home on March 11th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 5th, 1927 in Lindale, Texas to Ambrose Davy Wright and Bessie Alice Wren Wright.
Mr. Wright’s commitment to his work and community spanned a lifetime, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a man of faith and it showed in his kind and helpful ways with his friends and customers. Mr. Wright was a master plumber and owner and operator of Hawkins Hardware and Wright-Way Plumbing. Before owning his own businesses, he worked for his father-in-law and had the privilege of maintaining Pegasus, the flying red horse, on top of the historical Magnolia building in Dallas, Texas.
Mr. Wright proudly served his country as a Fireman Second Class on the mighty Battleship Texas in World War II at the age of 17. Among one of his proudest accomplishments was receiving the Hawkins Texas “Man of the Year” Award, a testament to his outstanding character and leadership within the community.
He is survived by his beloved wife Mary Jane Wright, his children Craig Wright and wife Belinda, Wendy Epps and husband Randy; grandchildren, Kristin Reed and husband Andy, Jenny Johnson and husband Andrew, Adam Wright and wife Staci; great-grandchildren, Zoe Wilson and husband Evan, Jayci Poe, Erin Autrey, Addisyn Autrey, Landri Wright, Harper Wright and Carter Wright.
He is preceded in death by his parents; child, Terry Dale Wright, grand-child Chelsey Morgan Epps and siblings Atrelle, Zelma, Martine, Joyce, and Gary.
Services for Mr. Wright will be Thursday, March 14th, 2024 at Hollybrook Baptist Church with Reverend David LeFlore and Randy Epps officiating, the service will start at two o’ clock in the afternoon with visitation being one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Holly Tree Cemetery.
