Lesa Denise Young passed away on January 16th, 2023, at her home in Holly Lake Ranch, TX, surrounded by her loving family. Lesa was born in Dallas, Texas, to Guy V. Hestand and Peggy Jean Hestand on April 3, 1954.
In December 1974, one of Lesa’s first jobs was at Steak and Ale in Dallas where she met her husband,Tim, just prior to getting hired. He was the handsome man who served lunch to her and her mom. Over the years, Tim and Lesa remained friends and dated off and on. They finally found their way back to each other permanently and were married on May 15, 1999. Lesa stayed in the restaurant industry for many years. She was the General Manager at Daniel’s Restaurant in Arlington, then co-owned and operated Fresh Pizza when she moved to Longview in the early 80s. Fresh Pizza was possibly one of the first take-and-bake pizza restaurants of its time and everyone loved her food. In June, 2001, she and her family moved to Holly Lake Ranch. She continued on with the take-and-bake pizzas, which became known as Lesa’s Pizza. She sold and delivered pizzas to the locals in her new hometown. While in Longview, Lesa was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and served many years as the Parish Secretary. She had a love for God and a faith for Jesus Christ that was unwavering. Lesa’s favorite job also happened to be her most recent. She was a bookkeeper for Action Sounds in Hawkins, TX, which is a globally known musical instrument repair shop. She was able to meet many famous musicians while working there, but the reason she loved it so much is because they treated her like family. Special thanks to Kelly and Brenda Barber for their love and support, especially this past year.
Lesa was an avid Cowboy and Rangers fan to say the least. Rabid describes her fandom better. She loved all kinds of music, but her favorites were The Beatles and Paul McCartney, as well as Willie Nelson. Tim and Lesa experienced Willy Nelson’s Picnic when they got together in 1976, and 23 years later they were given backstage tickets for that concert as a wedding present in 1999. Lesa was very well known for keeping in touch with all her friends over the years, especially her W.T. White family (Class of ’72!), who she loved so much. She will be missed by many and left in the hearts of all that knew her.
Lesa is survived by her loving husband, Tim Young, daughter Sarah Parker, granddaughter Riley Stevens; stepson Mark Young, and wife, Emi Matsushita, and their son, Canon; brother Guy Hestand, Jr., and wife, Sharon Hestand; sister Julie Hestand and husband William Doetsch.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy V. Hestand and Peggy Jean Reynolds Hestand.
