Leonard Phoenix made his flight to heaven, August 26, 2022.
Mr. Phoenix was born in Bowlegs, Oklahoma and was welcomed into this world by his parents Wesley Seth Phoenix and Maude Britain Phoenix on November 30, 1927.
He married his true love Lucille Yates on December 10, 1948. During their 60 years of marriage, they spent time fishing, hunting, camping, water skiing, building, and even on one occasion, snow skiing together.
He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Diana, where he was a deacon, on the building and grounds committee and a choir member for as long as he was able. Leonard had the heart of a missionary and would go on Mission Trips with any group he could find, including Texas Baptist Men, where he used his skills as a builder to help those in need and further the Great Commission.
Before he retired from Lone Star Steel, Leonard would play his harmonica over the PA system so everyone could enjoy it.
He is survived by his son, Cliff Phoenix and wife Terry; daughters, Lynette Tomme, and husband, David; Belinda Johnson and husband, Kent; as well as 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; son, Robert Phoenix; grandson, Ryan Phoenix; his brother, Leroy Phoenix; his sisters, Opal, Josephine, and Mildred.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana, with a visitation 1 hour prior. Interment will be at Reed Cemetery.
