Leo Albert Calhoun

Leo Albert Calhoun, 84, of Hawkins, Texas passed away on January 19, 2023.  Leo was born in San Angelo, Texas to Albert and Minnie Calhoun.

Leo enlisted in the United States Army before becoming an engineer.  He worked for Brown and Root up until his retirement in 1995.  Leo had many hobbies that included playing cards and dominoes, horse and dog racing and singing karaoke.  Leo was known to be hardworking and could do or fix anything no matter how big or small.  Leo loved his family and cherished time with them.  He also loved his dog Toby and cat Sassy like they were his children.  Leo leaves behind cherished memories to all that knew him.  

Leo is survived by his wife, Virginia Kate Calhoun; sisters, Sue Shannon and Lavonda Wilson; as well as 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Leo is preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Birdsong; brothers, Sonny Calhoun, Bobby Calhoun and Gerald Calhoun; and sister, Audrey Pennington. 

Services will be held Monday, January 23, 2023 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon in the chapel of Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, Texas with a visitation starting just prior at 1 o'clock in the afternoon.
