L. C. (Pete) Wynn, 79, of Gladewater, died Saturday, June 21, 2014, following a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Crowley Funeral Home, Gladewater, with Dr. Donald Ward officiating. The eulogy will be given by long-time friend Ellis Stewart. Interment will follow at Gladewater Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Wynn was born Feb. 4, 1935, in Castor, La., to Eldredge C. Wynn and Ruby Lee Williams Wynn. His family relocated to Kilgore in 1938, where he attended Kilgore schools and graduated from Kilgore High School in 1953. He attended Kilgore College where he studied business and later received his certificate of completion in Offset Printing. He served in the Texas Army National Guard in Kilgore. Mr. Wynn was a Christian, serving as a deacon in his church for many years. Mr. Wynn, a journeyman printer, was employed by McAlister Printing in Kilgore until 1974, at which time he opened D and W Printing in Gladewater. He had many friends in the printing trade in East Texas, and was well respected for his knowledge and expertise. He took joy and pride in his work, which was his first love after his family. Mr. Wynn was a member of the Gladewater Chamber of Commerce, serving as a director in 1982, and was a member of the International Typographical Union. Pete and his wife, Karel have been supporters of the Gladewater Round Up Rodeo Association"s Scholarship Program benefitting area High School students. He is predeceased by his son, Jayson Lee Wynn. He is survived by his wife Karel Wynn, of 59 years; one son, Mark Wynn of Gladewater; one daughter, Jana Wynn Ryan and husband Frank of Tatum; seven grandchildren, Kristopher Wynn and wife Regina of Gladewater, Eric Wynn and wife Maria of New Boston, Jessica Wynn of New Diana, Brandon Wynn of Gladewater, Megan Ryan Sparks and husband Adam of Sibley, La., and Garrett Ryan of Tatum; five great- grandchildren, Brooke and Lauren Wynn, Grayson Wynn, Logan Wynn and Xander Sparks; one sister, Neva Silvers and husband Joe of Henderson; three special brothers-in-law, Jim Burns of Spicewood, Steve Burns and wife Sylvia of Alma, Ar., and Jerry Burns and wife Maureen of Salisaw, Ok.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers are Rick and Mike Poland, Frank and Garrett Ryan, Kris and Brandon Wynn. Honorary pallbearers are Dwayne Canup, Gene Zhorne, Dr. Michael Ellis, Gayle Patrick, Clyde Wiggins and Allen Friberg.
