Funeral services for Lawrence John Woodle, 83, of Gilmer will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at Croley Chapel in Gilmer with Bro. Donny Chamberlian officiating. Interment will be in the Hopewell Cemetery in Upshur County. Mr. Woodle passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at his residence. Mr. Woodle was born March 30, 1932, in Red River County to Jim and Ima Chance Woodle. He was a veteran of the United States Navy in Korea, worked as a machinist for Spencer Harris, retired from Lebus Manufacturing, and was a member and lifelong deacon of the Latch Missionary Baptist Church. When he came home from the Navy, he visited Latch Missionary Baptist Church with a friend, where he met Cecelia the love of his life. Mr. Woodle is survived by his granddaughter Lesa Herbst and husband, Chris Herbst of McKinney; great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Brooke Herbst; nieces, Deloris Woodle of Paris and Starlene and husband, Frank Pope of Mt. Pleasant; and many other loving family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Cecelia Harris Woodle; son, David Woodle; brothers, Herman Woodle, James Woodle and Paul Woodle; sisters, Mable Woodle and Evelyn Stillwell. Pallbearers will be Mark Thompson, Steven Henson, Robert Henson, Richard Henson, James Jones, Keith Faulkner, James Schuler and J.D. Schuler. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Thompson and Terry Erwin. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 24, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., at Croley Chapel in Gilmer.
