LaVerne Turner Volz

Funeral services for Mrs. LaVerne Turner Volz, 97, of Gilmer, Texas will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Reverend Charles Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer.

Mrs. Volz passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 in Longview. She was born on March 16, 1920 in the Grice community in Upshur County, Texas to James Laster and Lessie Bell Arnold Turner. Mrs. Volz worked in insurance and was a member of Rosewood Baptist Church. She loved her plants and working in the yard, cooking for her family and friends and sewing.

She is survived by her sister, Ted Machen; nieces, Judy Neel, Debbie Barton, Karen McCardell, Torie Palmer, Karla Jones; nephew, Jimmy Gatlin and numerous great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George “Chick” Volz; parents, Laster and Lessie (Arnold) Turner; sisters, Kathleen Fouts, Christine Warrick and Geraldine McDonald.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
