Larry Lee Schmidt

Memorial services for Larry Lee Schmidt, 57, of Winona will be Friday, August 5, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the Friendship Baptist Church in Gladewater with Brother Gene Ferrell officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following services. Mr. Schmidt passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2016 in Tyler. Mr. Schmidt was born December 20, 1958 in Denver, Colorado to the late Norman Schmidt and Joann Smits. Larry was a retired firefighter for the Elk Creek Fire Department after 32 years of service. He continued working as a Safety Manager in the Oil Fields of East Texas. Mr. Schmidt continued serving his community as a volunteer firefighter for the Winona Volunteer Fire Department. Larry was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He loved animals especially dogs and horses. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Rhonda Schmidt; six children Joshua Ryan Schmidt, Garrett Augustus Schmidt, Shawn Lawrence Schmidt, James Michael Hardin, Joyce Nicole Byers and Brianna Kay Pippins; two brothers Rick Schmidt and Scott Schmidt; eight grandchildren Tyra Sayre, Jackie Hardin, Jenna Hardin, Collin Williams, Kaleb Williams, Maddock Hardin, Sophia Byers and Bam Bam Pippins as well as many other loving family and friends. Mr. Schmidt is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Tim "Mad Dog" Schmidt.
