Lanis Dennison

Memorial services for Lanis Art Dennison, 78, of Gilmer, Texas will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Soules Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Stephanie Chapman officiating.

Mr. Dennison passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016 in Gilmer. He was born on January 29, 1938 in Dallas, Texas to Sam and Ruth York Dennison. Mr. Dennison was a veteran of the United States Navy, a local Boy Scout Troop leader and a clown in the children wards at the local hospitals. He was an equipment manager for Levi Strauss Co. and of the Methodist faith. Mr. Dennison married Maxine Fowler Dennison on November 11, 2012.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine Dennison of Gilmer; daughters, Rena Hawk and husband Lonnie of Sarasota, Florida and Jennifer Jones and husband Jason of Plano, Texas; sister, Rondy Dennison of Daingerfield, Texas; sister-in-law, Brenda Dennison; grandchildren, Dustin Hawk, Peyton Jones, Shelby Townsend, Sean Spencer, Luke Spencer and Breanna Spencer. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and a great-niece, Angela Lane and husband Aaron of Arp, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Ruth Dennison; first wife of 46 years and mother of their children, Martha Dennison and his step-brother, Earl Pettit.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
