Lagrand Edwin Denton

Funeral services for Lagrand Edwin Denton, 72, of Gilmer will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Jack Jones officiating. Interment will be in Kelsey Cemetery in Upshur County. Arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mr. Denton passed Thursday, October 28, 2010 in a Longview hospice. Mr. Denton was born January 15, 1938 in Gilmer to Elvin Edwin and Elnora Ward Denton. He was owner and operator of Denton Construction Company, past President and Business Agent of Local 279 Motion Picture Operator of Houston, Galveston, and Lake Jackson, Texas, a 32 Degree Mason, and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Gilmer Stake. He is survived by his wife: Fay Denton of Gilmer; daughter and son-in-law: Kittie Leigh and Michael Correll of Tomball; brothers: Lowell Denton of Longview and Gary Lynn Denton of Denton; sisters: Glenda Moseley of Diana and Gwendolyn Rancilio of Gilmer; three grandchildren: Michael Correll, II, Richard F. Denton, II, and Brandon Correll. Mr. Denton is preceded in death by his son: Richard R. Denton; daughters: Karen Rhea Denton and Rhonda Kay Denton; parents: Elvin "Pete" and Elnora Denton; brother: Ronald Melvin Denton. Pallbearers will be Steve Tefteller, Philip Bryant, Keith Hamberlin, Doug Corn, Phillip Hill, and Azell Chevalier. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 1, 2010 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
