Kent Dixon Jewkes

Graveside services for Kent Dixon Jewkes, 74, of Gilmer will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 11, 2013, at Kelsey Cemetery in Upshur County under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mr. Jewkes was born on November 30, 1939, in Price, Utah to Richard Rolla Jewkes and Faye Dixon Jewkes. He married Shirley Faye Smalling in Corsicana, Texas. Mr. Jewkes served in the U. S. Marine Corp. and a retired cowboy. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Jewkes of Gilmer; son, William Owen Jewkes of Weaverville, NC; daughters, Tana Jewkes Phillips of Gilmer, DeAnn Jewkes Thacker of Winnsboro, Christina Lea Jewkes of Kilgore, Delia Sue Jewkes of Winnsboro; brothers, Richard Jewkes of El Paso, Jim Jewkes of Colorado and Derge Myers of Mississippi; sisters, Sue Stegall of Gilmer and Kim Blakeney of Las Vegas, NV; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mr. Jewkes was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dale Jewkes and sister, Margaret Dixon. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 10, 2013 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
