Kenneth Warren Scanlon

Graveside services for Kenneth Warren Scanlon, 86, of Longview will be Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Hopewell Cemetery with Mr. Harold Angel officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, July 29, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. Mr. Scanlon passed away on Monday, July 25, 2016 at his home in Longview surrounded by friends and family. Mr. Scanlon was born June 27, 1930 in White Plains, New York to the late John Scanlon and Constance Potter. Kenneth proudly served in the United States Navy. He also served the community as a local hero in blue as a police officer and detective in Marshall, Texas. Mr. Scanlon was a Baptist. Kenneth never met a stranger and would help anyone in need; often helping out strangers. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. Known as "Pops" he mentored and loved not only his own children but many others, feeding them and giving advice. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him and loved him. He enjoyed gardening, motorcycles and his family. He is survived by his sons: John Henry, Andy, David, Tad and Shad; daughters: Maureen and Angie; step-daughters: Tonya and Kelli as well as many other grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons: Jerald, Patrick and Billy.
