Funeral services for Kenneth Ray Lindsey, 83, of Clovis, NM are scheduled for Thursday, Nov 21, 10:00 am at 21 st Street Church of Christ, Clovis, NM with Rick Hankins officiating. He will be buried at the Kelsey Cemetery in Gilmer, TX under the direction of Croley Funeral Home.
Kenneth passed away Sunday, November 17, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. He was born on June 29, 1941 to Leroy and Mildred Lindsey in Gainesville, TX. He graduated from South Mountain High School in Phoenix, AZ in 1959. He graduated from The University of Pasadena College of Chiropractic in 1978. He served in the US Air Force from 1960-1967 and the California Air National Guard from 1979-1986. He spent most of his life as a chiropractic physician and recently closed his practice in Clovis, NM He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and attended the Clovis ward. He also often attended church with his wife, Bertie, at 21st Street Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Betty Jo Bailey and Nelda Sellers, and one brother, Douglas Lindsey. Survivors include his wife Bertie Snipes Lindsey of Clovis, NM; two daughters, Annette and Lori of CA; and one brother, Gerald (Venita) Lindsey, Wilcox, AZ. He is also survived by his step-children, Koena (Ralph) Tapscott, Lake Havasu City, AZ; Jack (April) Snipes, Amarillo, TX; Julie (Todd) Spears, Canyon, TX; 4 grandchildren & 5 step-grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter, 6 step- great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Kenneth never met a stranger, loved people unconditionally, and was a natural entertainer. He was an avid dancer and he and Bertie danced in the local and state 50+ Senior Olympics where they won numerous awards in the dance and talent categories. He also participated in tennis, shot-put, corn-hole and shuffleboard in the Senior Olympics. When Kenneth lived in California he was an amateur actor with a local theatre production and participated in 47 different plays.
Kenneth put a lot of value on education and loved learning. He earned countless certificates and took hundreds of hours of continuing education courses. Kenneth was diagnosed with cancer in 2023 and he made it a point not to be a victim but to be grateful and encourage others with positivity and spread joy. He loved encouraging other seniors to be active and healthy. Kenneth was always a jokester and loved making other people laugh. He will be profoundly missed by all who loved him.
Pallbearers are Joe Quintana, Dudley Clark, Earnie Bailey, Brad Heath, Tanner Mack and Bob Jack, Rick Sullivan and John Harris.
A memorial service will be held at the Heritage Center at Kelsey Cemetery in Gilmer, TX on Friday, Nov 22 at 1PM and burial will be under the direction of Croley Funeral Home.
