Mrs. Kay Pearson, age 72 of Gilmer, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 in Tyler. Kay was born in Memphis, Tennessee on September 20, 1948 to the late John Henry Haley, Sr., and Juanita (Teasler) McWhorter. Kay attended and graduated from Gilmer High School, and soon after graduation married Billy Mac Pearson on April 9, 1966. She worked in retail at Montgomery-Ward’s in Dallas, and upon returning to Gilmer, she worked many years at the Gilmer Wal-Mart in the Garden Center and Pharmacy. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and will be greatly missed by all those she leaves to cherish her memory.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Billy Mac Pearson of Tyler; three sons, Kelvin Pearson and wife Cathy of Gilmer, Michael Pearson of Gilmer, B.J. Pearson and wife Kaci of Longview; brothers; John Haley Jr., of Holly Lake Ranch, Clarence Haley of Dallas, Melvin Haley and wife Debbie of Palestine, Sam McWhorter and wife Rachelle of Gilmer, Tom McWhorter and wife Jane of Slidell, La., David “Skeeter” McWhorter, Jr.; sisters, Suzy Justice of Memphis, Tn., Barbara Sanders of Austin, Juanita “J.J” Dunn of Gilmer; three grandchildren, Casey Pearson, Jessica Bolton, Dustin Pearson, as well as several great-grandchildren, numerous cousins and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 2, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Croley Funeral Home of Gilmer. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Croley Funeral Home of Gilmer with Pastor Luke Martinez officiating; interment will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery, with Chris Yordy, Aaron McWhorter, Sam “Bubba” McWhorter, Nathan West, Parker McWhorter, and Jules Johnson serving as pallbearers, and Zaylen and Rylen as honorary pallbearers.
