Services for Katye Bonner Lee, 91, of Gladewater will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church in Gladewater with Reverend Dick Dobbins and Reverend Wayne Flowers officiating. Interment will follow at Gladewater Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. Mrs. Lee passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017, in Gladewater.
Mrs. Lee was born October 30, 1925, in Eureka, Texas, to the late John Bonner and Effie Shields. Katye was a longtime faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Gladewater where she served in many capacities including treasurer, youth minister, a long-time member of the Genesis Sunday school class, and was a founding member of the Creative Christians, group which raised money for the church. Katye served on the Gladewater Rodeo Association as well as in many other community areas. She was retired from TP&L after many years of service as the administrative assistant for the district manager in Sulphur Springs. Katye’s life was devoted to serving her Lord and her community. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who will be dearly missed by all the loving family and friends she leaves behind.
Katye is survived by her sons and their wives, Danny and Tina Lee of Longview, and Doug and Barbara Lee of Maryland; four grandchildren: Robert Lee and wife Darcie, Colin Lee, Christopher Lee and fiancé’ Meredith Irwin and Stephanie Lee; three great grandchildren: Payten Hollis, Parker Lee and Landrie Lee; nephews John Bonner and Wesley Bonner, as well as many other loving family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 69 years, Bob Lee, and son David Lee.
