Katherine Elizabeth Puckett

Katherine Elizabeth Puckett, 72, of East Mountain took her last breath here on earth and her first breath in Heaven on September 3, 2024. Katherine was born on June 14, 1952 in Winnfield, Louisiana.

She graduated from Nursing School in 1984 and spent most of her career as a Registered Nurse at Longview Regional Hospital. She loved working in the Emergency Room and earned the respect of her fellow nurses, doctors and other colleagues. Katherine retired from nursing in 2019 and spent her time crocheting baby blankets and other items to sell at the Byrd’s Nest. It brought her great joy when someone bought something she had made. Katherine loved spending Saturdays at the Nest. She took full advantage of each opportunity to make a new friend or give a hug as only she could.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents RJ and Doris Johns, and brother Gary Johns.

Katherine is survived by her husband of 56 years, Corbitt of East Mountain and her 3 children, Allen Puckett of Dallas, Karla and Matthew Byrd of Gladewater and Wendy and James Snyder of East Mountain. The absolute joy of her life were her grandchildren who affectionately called her “Mom Kat”, Tori, Kadi (Dylan), Rayne (Daniel), Nick, Justice and Jacob. She also had 4 great grandchildren, Archie, Malachi, Willow and Asla. She was blessed to have numerous bonus grandchildren that loved her deeply. She is also survived by her brother, RayDean Johns (Debbie) of Comer, GA and her sister, Vonda Jordan (Jimmy) of Natchitoches, LA.

We will gather for a time of visitation at 12pm on Saturday, September 7 and her Celebration of Life at 1pm at the First Assembly of God in Gladewater at 110 US Hwy 80 East, Gladewater, Texas 75647. The service will be streamed on Facebook live at First Assembly of God Gladewater.
