Mrs. Karen Kay Brown, age 73, of Big Sandy, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021 in Longview. Karen was born on July 4, 1948 in Hope, Arkansas to the late Early G. and Norma Pickering McWilliams. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and homemaker in addition to working for many years as the church treasurer at First Baptist Church of Big Sandy. Karen loved art, drawing, painting, working crossword puzzles, as well as being outdoors working in the yard or enjoying nature. She was caring and loving, and a fighter, having survived breast cancer twice.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Mayo Francis Brown; infant daughter, April Diane Brown.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Brown of Holly Lake Ranch; brother, Everette "Skippy" McWilliams and wife Barbara of Big Sandy; aunt, Kathleen Shelton of Dallas; nephews, Glen McWilliams, Grant McWilliams, Kevin McWilliams and numerous cousins.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Croley Funeral Home of Gilmer. The family requests donations the Alzheimer's Association or Compass Hospice.
