Junior Calvin Wade

Junior Calvin Wade of Bryan, formally of Kelsey, Texas passed away on March 23, 2013 in Bryan, Texas. Local Visitation was held Monday, March 25th from 5-7 p.m. at Trevino- Smith Funeral Home in Bryan. Under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, Visitation will be held Thursday, March 28, from 10-11 a.m. in the Relief Society Room of the Gilmer LDS Church on Pine Street, with Funeral Services immediately following in the Gilmer LDS Church. Burial will be in the Kelsey Cemetery. Born on August 4, 1927, in Kelsey to Jasper Clifford Wade and Lola Ault Wade. Calvin was an educator for 35 years, teaching in Alice, Taft, Tuleta and Pettus, Texas. He was the Elementary Principal for Pettus for 25 years retiring in 1984, moving back to Kelsey. He has resided in Bryan since July 2012. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and also a ordinance worker in the Dallas Texas LDS Temple for many years. He enjoyed being a weather watcher for 24 years for KLTV in Tyler and KTAL in Shreveport, Louisiana. He grew up in Upshur County, graduating from Gilmer High School in 1944. Calvin served in the US Navy during WWII on the USS Yosemite. He graduated in 1949, from East Texas State College in Commerce, and later received his Masters from Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas. He married Shirley Price Wade on June 16, 1951, in Alice, Texas. Junior was survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Price Wade of Bryan; two daughters and son-in-law, Cynthia Wade of Grand Prairie, Melissa and Richard Davis of Plano; Son and daughter-in-law, Calvin S. and Patti Wade of Bryan; brother and sister-in-law; John and Jane Wade of Kelsey, Grandchildren: Rebekah and Grant Elam of Katy, Rachel and William Demeritt of Studio City, California, Calvin Paul "CP" and Brittney Wade of Bryan, Seth Davis of Plano, and 3 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Charles Wade. Pallbearers will be Calvin Paul "CP" Wade, Steve Wade, Alan Wade, Chad Wade, Dennis Payne and Jeremy Payne. Memorials can be made to the Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 W. 26th, Bryan, Texas 77803.
