Services for Judy Armstrong, 73, of Gladewater, Texas, will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, November 15, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church in Gladewater. Officiating the service will be Reverend Dick Dobbins and Dennis Abernathy. A separate graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 16, 2015, at Rosedale Cemetery in Gladewater. Mrs. Armstrong passed away on Thursday, November 12 in Longview, Texas. Services are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. Judy Armstrong was born to Bob and Opal Burton on May 20, 1942, in Vernon, Texas. She grew up in Arlington, Texas, and graduated from Arlington High School. Judy started early in life riding and showing cutting horses. Throughout her lifetime, she rose from childhood phenomenon to a legendary rider inducted into the National Cutting Horse Hall of Fame. Judy was a devoted mother, wife and grandmother. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gladewater. Mrs. Armstrong is survived by her husband Dr. Tom Armstrong of Gladewater; sons and daughters-in-law Mark and Becky Armstrong of Gladewater, Keith and Rebecca Armstrong of Plano, Texas; two grandchildren, Aaron and Jace Armstrong; nephews, Randy Fanning and wife Eddy of Kemp, Texas, and Pete Fanning of Granbury, Texas; and great-nephews Wes and Matt Fanning. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Bobbie Fanning. Serving as pallbearers are Aaron Armstrong, Jace Armstrong, John Stanley, Mike Warren, Richard Pittman, Larry Aaron, Ron Byers and Dr. Kenneth Glaze. Visitation will be on Saturday, November 14, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. Online condolences may be left at www.croleyfh.net . In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
