Joy Mariece Hibberts

DIANA: Services for Joy M. Hibberts, 85, of Longview will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Grubbs-Loyd Chapel in Diana with Reverend Mark Minter officiating. Interment will follow at Lafayette Cemetery in Upshur County. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana. She passed away on April 2, 2018, in Longview.

Joy was born on February 7, 1933 to Ima and Z.C. Clifton in Strong, Arkansas. She received her BA in education from Louisiana Tech in Ruston, LA in 1955 and her Master’s Degree from LSU in Shreveport in 1973. She taught in public education from 1955 until her retirement in 1982. Joy was a member of First Baptist Church in Diana and will be greatly missed by her church family.

In June of 1982, she married Charles Reginald “Reggie” Hibberts in Shreveport, Louisiana, and was blessed with living in many different countries during his working years.

Joy is survived by her son: Charles Reginald Hibberts, Jr. and wife Janelle, grandchildren: Kasey and Nicole Hibberts, nephew: Glenn Hibberts and wife Joyce, extended family: Richy, Samantha, Blake and Ty Wall, and Mandy Nicholas and husband John and their daughters, Cassidy, Tessla and Loren.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Reggie Hibberts in 2017, and her parents: Ima and Z.C. Clifton.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, April 6, 2018, 6-8 P.M. at Grubbs-Loyd Chapel in Diana.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 96, Diana, Texas 75640 in memory of Joy.
