Services for Mr. Johnny Miller, 69, of Gilmer will be held 11:00 A,.M., Friday, May 10, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Gilmer with Reverend Todd Kaunitz and Dr. David L. Jenkins officiating. Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Gorman Oaklawn Cemetery, Gorman, Texas under the direction of Croley Funeral Home. Mr. Miller passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in Longview. Johnnie Weldon Miller was born May 2, 1944, in Blackwell Hospital, Gorman, Texas, to Gordon Clatie and Thressa Mae (Garrett) Miller. He graduated from High School in Graham, Texas in 1962. He received Bachelor of Science Degree from California Coast University in Santa Ana, California. He was drafted into service in 1967 and served 14 years active duty and reserve. During this time he served in the Vietnam War as a Military Security Officer and later as a Chaplain"s Assistant. Master Sergeant Miller received Honorable discharge from the United States Air Force in 1990. He then served 5 years in the Texas State Guard as a Captain in the 19th Regiment, 3rd Battalion, Marshall, Texas. Johnny retired in 2000 after working 22 years with the Texas Department of Health, Texas Water Commission and the Texas Natural Resource and Conservation Commission. He was involved with the Junior Chamber of Commerce in Comanche, Texas and a member of the Kiwanis Club in Gilmer, Texas. Mr. Miller was a member of Gilmer First Baptist Church since 1978, where he served as RA leader, Youth Sunday School Teacher and a Choir Member. Johnny married Jean D. (Munn) Miller on June 20, 1970 in Gorman, Texas and she survives him. He is also survived by his son, Jay Weldon Miller and wife, Kimberly and daughter, Jennifer Lynn Miller; grandchildren, Seth Parks and Addison Miller; sister, Sarah Lynn Miller Seckinger and husband, Troy; niece, Carolyn R. Lancaster and great nephew, Adyon Lancaster. He was preceded in death by a son, John David Miller and his parents. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 217 W.
