Johnathon Alexander Elwell, 26, of Gilmer passed away Saturday, July 23, 2022, in Elmira, New York. He was born on June 18, 1996 in Longview, TX to Jae Elwell and Poppy.

Johnathon will be greatly missed by many friends and family members, but he leaves behind a legacy of life through his selfless gift of organ donation that brings comfort to all who loved him.

He is survived by his parents, Jae and Poppy Elwell of Gilmer; son, Bufard Elwell of Pittsburg; brother, Max Elwell; sister, Jericha Dethlefs and husband, Eric of Philadelphia; nephew and nieces, Jonas, Winnie, and Aurelia Dethlefs; grandparents, Jim and Wanda Elwell and Aubrey Stanley all of Gilmer; as well as a host of loving family and friends.

Johnathon is preceded in death by his grandfather, Bobby Kennimer.

A memorial service for Johnathon will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer with Rev. Mark Dunne officiating. The family will receive visitors prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm on Saturday.
