John Walter Crouch Sr., 78, of Longview passed away on January 20, 2022. John was born in Arlington, Texas, on August 18, 1943 to Austin and Nita Bob Crouch.
John was a 1961 graduate of Longview High School and a graduate East Texas State University with a degree in Industrial Engineering. His Aunt Nell said his degree was not worth the paper it was written on because it did not have Texas A&M on it. Years later when East Texas State became Texas A&M Commerce, John ordered his new diploma and laughed all the time that he now had a “real degree.” After graduating college he and Tina lived in Commerce and Waxahachie, Texas before moving back to Longview in 1978. He spent 25 years at The Crosby Group in Longview, Texas.
John was a devoted husband, Tina was his world for over 60 years. He was also a faithful member of Sovereign Life Fellowship in Longview, Texas. In John’s younger years he liked hot rods but as time went on his hobbies changed to building and refinishing furniture as well as fishing and spoiling his grandchildren. After retirement, he fished with his son every Thursday and looked forward to his oldest son coming home at Christmas from South Carolina every year for two weeks. He loved his friends Wayne McKay, his brother in law, Thomas Mobbs, and his neighbor Mike Cobert. Mike and John spent many days working in the yard, building projects together and just hanging out.
John is survived by his beloved wife Tina Crouch; sons, John Crouch Jr. and wife Robbie and Edward Crouch and wife Danyelle; step sister Jennifer Rudolph as well as 8 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his parents Austin Prewitt Crouch and Nita Bob Applegate and step father Ed Applegate.
Memorial donations will be accepted in John’s name benefiting Sovereign Life Fellowship in Longview, Texas. https://slflongview.churchcenter.com/giving
