John W. Ferguson

Funeral service for John W. Ferguson, 70, of Waskom will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the Walnut Creek Baptist Church in Upshur County with Reverend Freeman Pierce officiating. Interment will be in Walnut Creek Cemetery in Upshur County. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana. Mr. Ferguson passed away Friday, April 10, 2015 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Mr. Ferguson was born June 17, 1944 in Diana to Reese and Mallie Satterwhite Ferguson. He retired as a school superintendent having worked over 30 years in the public school system and served in the United States Marines Reserve. He is survived by his wife, Linda Ferguson of Waskom; daughters, Amanda Saunders of Shreveport and Darsey Elliott and husband, Casey of Shreveport; son-in-law, Shawn Saunders of Shreveport; brother, Carl Ferguson and wife, Louise of Diana; sister-in-law, Shirley Ferguson of Ore City; three grandchildren, Collin Saunders of Shreveport, Cannon and Reese of Elliott of Shreveport; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Ferguson was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Reese Ferguson; sister, Ruth Black; brothers and sister-in-law, Bill Ferguson, Ben Ferguson and Bob and Debbie Ferguson. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 13, 2015 at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana.
