John Thomas "J.T" Jeter III

Graveside services for John T. "J.T." Jeter, III, 64, of Gilmer will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Kilgore City Cemetery in Kilgore with Brother Robbie Caldwell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home. J. T. passed away peacefully at his residence. J. T. was born July 24, 1946 in Kilgore, Texas to John T. and Marguerite Jeter and is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his brothers: Jim Jeter and wife Karen of Jackson, Mississippi, Bob Jeter and wife Deborah of Longview, Don Jeter and wife Laura of Union Grove, Jack Jeter and wife Karen of Hallsville, and his sisters: Theresa Jeter Carroll and husband Jim of College Station, and Jayne Jeter Green and husband Tony of Austin. In addition, he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. J.T. was a graduate of both Ore City High School and Kilgore College. He also received a Bachelor"s and Master"s Degree from what was formerly known as East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas. He spent most of his years teaching at public and private schools in both Texas and Arizona. After retiring from teaching he moved to Gilmer where he continued to fulfill his life-long love of raising horses. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, J.T. would be honored by memorials to the Humane Society of North East Texas, located at 303 Enterprise Street, Longview, Texas 75604. There is no scheduled visitation.
