John Richard Hunt

Funeral service for John Richard Hunt, 72 of Gilmer, will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Bro. Marion Palmer officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of Croley Funeral Home. Family will receive friends Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Mr. Hunt passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017 in Longview.

Mr. Hunt was born February 2, 1945 in Gilmer, TX to the late Elmo and Mauvalene Hunt. Mr. Hunt proudly served in the United States Air Force as a sharpshooter and tactical command officer, serving stateside and abroad during the Vietnam War. Upon returning to Gilmer after being honorably discharged, he met and married Linda Morse and they built a life together with their twin daughters Jamie and Jana. John was a multi talented man and enjoyed many careers in the radio broadcasting industry, local school system, steel industry, and at Lowes. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gilmer.

Mr. Hunt will be forever remembered for the love of his family, especially his twin girls and granddaughter. Most days he could be found playing his guitar and music and serving as a faithful caregiver to his family.

John is survived by his daughter; Jamie Leuschner and husband Bob of Gilmer, daughter; Jana Pritchett and husband Tim of Gilmer; granddaughter Caitlin Pritchett of Gilmer, brother; David Hunt of Gilmer, nephew; Scott Hunt, niece; Dana Morgan, great nephew; Collin Morgan, and great niece; Kathryn Morgan.

Mr. Hunt is preceded in death by his parents and his wife; Linda Morse Hunt.
