John Loonie Walters, Jr

DIANA: Services for John Loonie Walters, Jr, 84, of Diana will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 17, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Diana, with Brother Randel Trull officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana. Interment will follow at Ore City Cemetery. Mr. Walters passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017 in Longview.

John was born on September 18, 1933 to John L. Walters, Sr. and Maxine Ferguson Walters in Ore City. He retired as a millwright at Thiokol Corporation and was of the Baptist faith. He married Sarah Gauntt in Simms, TX on December 15, 1961.

John is survived by his wife, Sarah Walters, daughters and sons-in-law: Annette Gauntt of Maud, Esther Shipp and Vince of Longview, Tina Whitt and David of Diana, Candy Scott and Doug of Ore City, brothers: Joe Walters and wife Floye of NV., Mike Walters and wife Connie of AR, sister: Nelda Perry and husband Chuck of Diana, 7 grandchildren: Josh Emerson, Zackary Thomas, Shawna Hicks, Jacob Scott, Joseph Scott, Jackson Scott and Addison Scott, 5 great-grandchildren: Harlyn Emerson , Quin Emerson, Alexander Emerson, Pippa Thomas, and Bentley Hicks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Donald Walters and Glen Walters, sisters: Peggy Walters, Barbara Glenn and Joyce Dossey.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, November 16, 2017, 6-8 p.m. at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana.
