Funeral services for John D. Spell, Jr., 78, of Gilmer will be held 10:00 A. M. Friday, July 3 2015, at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer with Bro. Wade Maberry officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer. Mr. Spell passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015 in Longview. He was born on October 16, 1937, in Quitman, GA., to John D. Spell, Sr. and Margaret Cibbie Williams Spell. John D. Spell, Jr. served in the U. S. Navy, a retired inspector and a member of Indian Rock Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Eloise Spell of Gilmer; son and daughter-in-law, John DeWayne and Dee Spell of Diana; daughter and son-in-law, Carla Darlene and Gary Evans of Gilmer; five grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren Mr. Spell was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and four sisters. Pallbearers for his service will be Brian Armstrong, Jerry Davidson, Curtis Murray, A. C. Floyd, Bud Potts and Art Davis. Gary Evans will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
