Joe Lee Lummus

Joe Lee Lummus, 88, of White Oak, passed away in Longview on July 13, 2022. He was born on August 3, 1933 in Cass County to the late Levi and Elinor Gilmore Lummus. Joe married Barbara Bouknight on July 27, 1956 and they were married for 49 years, prior to her passing in 2004.

Joe honorably served his country in the US Army and then spent over 40 years working as a machinist. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed racing the dirt track and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children; Brenda and her husband, Steve Sweeney, Brad and his wife, Lisa Lummus and Doug Lummus; his grandchildren; Matthew and his wife, Megan Sweeney, Brandon and his wife, Lauren Lummus and Josh Lummus; as well as his great-grandchildren, Garrett, Payton and Emma Sweeney. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Elinor Lummus, his beloved wife, Barbara, and his siblings, Royce Lummus and Dora Lamelle Coatsworth.

Funeral services for Joe will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. A visitation will be held on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm for friends and family. Joe will be laid to rest next to his wife following the services at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Longview.
