Jimmy Almus Robards

Mr. Jimmy Almus Robards, 88, of Holly Lake Ranch, passed away on Monday, October, 26, 2020 in Tyler with his family at his side. He was born May 4, 1932 in Mineola, Texas to the late Frank Robards and Bonjie Rankin Robards.

Jimmy graduated from SMU, earning a degree in Business Administration. Mr. Robards served in the United States Navy during the Korean War as a Navigation and Communications Technician. He was awarded the Naval Occupation Award for Good Conduct and the United Nations Award. Jimmy worked as an Independent Agent for Southwestern Life Insurance for 25 years. He also operated a Farmers Insurance Agency for many years before retirement. In 1960, Jimmy was raised to a Master Mason as a member of the Fort Worth Masonic Lodge #148. When he moved to Holly Lake Ranch, Jimmy joined the Hawkins Masonic Lodge #1293 where he served in many capacities including Worshipful Master from 2006-2007. Jimmy enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, playing cards and other games of chance, cooking and entertaining for family and friends. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed his time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Bonjie Robards; son Steven Almus Robards; three sisters Mary, Billie and Jean and a brother Stephen Robards.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of more than 25 years, Anita Jo Robards; a daughter, Stephanie Anne Elder and husband Tom; a son, Clayton Dale Robards and wife Donna; step-sons, Cliff Greenbauer and wife Barbara and Scott Greenbauer and wife Tammy; grandson, Jason Robards and wife April; two great grandchildren, River Robards and Willow Robards, as well as many other loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 30, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Hawkins with Pastor David LeFlore officiating. Interment will follow services at Holly Tree Cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to services from 1:00 until service time.
