Jewel Tanner Crocker, 92, of Hawkins Texas, died Sunday, December 13, at home in Hawkins, Texas. She was born March 23, 1928, in Groves, Texas, to David W. Jones and Eddie Mae Smith Jones.
Jewel was a devoted member of First Baptist Church Hawkins, where she loved her church family and community. Her passion was her yard, she loved Blue Bonnets and sharing her seeds with friends and family. She also had a hobby of making lap quilts for friends and family, a treasure so many will have for years.
Survivors include her children, Kyle Tanner, and wife Donna, of Beaumont, TX; Wanda Stephens of Hawkins; Sandra Endsley and husband Charles, of Hawkins, Kent Tanner and wife Deanne, of Nederland. She has two special stepdaughters Sharon Vardeman and husband Tommy, Holly Lake Ranch; Kim Bustillos, Holly Lake Ranch. Grandchildren: Keli Tanner Caraveo and husband Gabe, San Antonio; Todd Tanner and wife Sherri, Flower Mound; Josh Tanner and wife Summer, Nederland; Cody Stephens, Hawkins; Jeremy Stephens and wife Velvet, of Gilmer; Jonathan Endsley and wife De’Che, Fort Worth; Kasey Tanner Vernon and husband Andrew, College Station; Kirby Tanner, Nederland; Morgan Tanner, Nederland; Kristie Goodman and husband Billy, Lake Charles, LA; Jenny Venghaus and husband Jeff, Houston; Two great-grandchildren grew up in Hawkins beside her, Triston Dodson and Ky’Lee French; She has 19 great-grandchildren; Numerous nieces and nephews…. LOTS of Tanners who loved her!
Jewel was preceded in death by her loving husbands, yes she married late in life; A.E. “Rastus” Tanner and Pete Crocker of Hawkins; her brother Dave Jones; sister Louise Knight, her loving granddaughter Macie Stephens.
Family and friends will gather for visitation beginning at 1 p.m. on Wednesday December 16th, at First Baptist Church Hawkins, Family Life Center, with Funeral to follow at 2 p.m.; private family burial at Hawkins Cemetery, under the direction of Croley Funeral Home, Hawkins, TX. The family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice for all the love and support shown to their mother and family.
