Jewel Faye Stevenson

Mrs. Jewel Faye Stevenson, age 88, of Gladewater, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 in Plano. Jewel was born in Fairfield, Texas on August 18, 1931 to the late William P. Walker and Mary B. (Spears) Walker. She worked as a sewing machine operator for Honey-Togs, and was a longtime member of the Gladewater Church of the Nazarene. Jewel was a people person, the consummate loving mother and grandmother. She loved watching westerns, spending time with her family and beloved church family.
She married Chesley Stevenson, Sr. on November 19, 1949, he preceded her in death on July 12, 2009. She was also preceded by her parents, six brothers, and three sisters.
She is survived by her sons, Chesley Stevenson, Jr. and wife Karen of Lewisville, Danny Stevenson and wife Gail of Dallas; daughter, Debra Free and husband Ronnie of Plano; six grandchildren, Jared Stevenson, Casey Stevenson, Tyler Stevenson, Jeff Rogers, Greg Rogers, Cory Free; ten great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Croley Funeral Home of Gladewater; Pastor Dean Simmons officiating. Private interment will be in Rock Springs Cemetery. She will lie in state from 2:00 – 5:00 PM on Friday, July 31, 2020 at the funeral home. For the safety of the family and funeral home staff, social distancing and face covering requirements will be observed.
