Funeral service for Jessie Ramona Johnston, 81, of Hawkins will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 23, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Hawkins conducted by Larry Bertrand. Interment will be in the Hawkins Cemetery in Hawkins. Arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Hawkins. Jessie Ramona Johnston died at Hospice of East Texas on Tuesday April 14, 2015 after battling a long illness. Born March 1, 1934 in Bible Grove, MO, she lived in Hawkins, TX and after 36 years retired from a long career in banking. Ramona was also a Baptist minister wife for 53 years. Survivors include husband, Rev. Seth E. Johnston of Hawkins, TX; daughter, Cynthia Urdea and husband, James of Littleton, CO; sister, Jean Tverdy and husband, Irv of Buhl, ID; daughter " in " law, Catherine Johnston of Corpus Christi, TX; granddaughter, Erin Green and husband, Jeremy; and great-grandsons, Andrew and Collin of Waxahachie, TX; granddaughter Melanie Shotts and husband, Steven; and great-granddaughter, Zoey of Corpus Christi, TX; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Urdea of Highlands Ranch, CO. Ramona was preceded in death by her son, Seth E. Johnston Jr. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a lunch following the graveside service at the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church Hawkins, TX. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Croley Funeral Home in Hawkins.
