Funeral Services for Mr. Jerry R. Harkrider, 78, of Gilmer, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Reverend Richard Laster and Jimmy Green officiating. Burial will follow at Floyd Cemetery in Upshur County. Mr. Harkrider passed away on Monday, October 12, 2015, in Longview. He was born on October 17, 1936, in Longview to Ansel Aubrey Harkrider and Florence Jenny Millard Harkrider. Mr. Harkrider served in the U. S. Air Force as a Gunnery mechanic working on B-52s and B-36s'. He worked as an operator at Eastman Kodak and was a plant manager for N.L. Baroid for nine years. Mr. Harkrider is survived by his wife, Eva Lou Taylor Harkrider of Gilmer; son, Greg Harkrider and wife, Sherri of Jacksonville, Fl.; daughter, Teri Harkrider and Lesa Fenn of Longview; daughter, Jennifer Bean and husband, Jay of Longview; brother, Millard Harkrider and wife, Marcella of Kilgore; brother-in-law, Tom Taylor and wife, Sondra of Gilmer; sister-in-law, Linda Taylor of Gilmer; five grandchildren, Allison Bean, Jody Harkrider, Evan Harkrider, Peyton Harkrider and A. J Harkrider; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Fred, Chris and Ancil Harkrider, Chris, Hal and Jordan Taylor, Kade Bailey, Derek Harkrider and Mike Fricks. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
