Jeffrey "Jeff" Robert Quinn

Jeff was born on September 27th, 1966 in Richardson, TX. He passed from this life on February 21, 2021 in Atenas, Costa Rica of a sudden heart attack (possibly brought on by sleep apnea).

Jeff was born and raised in Richardson, graduating from Berkner High School in 1984. In 1985, Jeff moved with his parents and sister, to Brookhaven Retreat near Holly Lake Ranch, TX. He started working for Tim Kelley at Woodmark Cabinets and enjoyed his apprenticeship until an accident with a saw changed his direction. Jeff then attended Tyler Junior College where he received an Associate of Arts Degree in Mathematics and an Associate in Applied Science in Electronics.

While attending TJC Jeff met and married Anne Slayton of Hawkins. Their son, Christopher Jon Quinn, lives in the Austin area with his wife Stephanie and their daughter Ophelia. Jeff and Anne divorced but maintained a strong relationship.

After getting double degrees in Engineering and Computer Technology from Texas A & M, Jeff was offered a position at Bell Northern Research (Nortel) in Richardson.

While working in Richardson, Jeff met Cheree Taylor. They married in 2003 in Hawaii and loved the tropical weather. After working for Nortel, Santera and other IT companies, Jeff started his own consulting business where he advised his clients on Voice Over Internet Protocols. Jeff and Cheree were able to live wherever they wanted since his work could be done remotely – hence the move to beautiful Costa Rica, where they proceeded to rescue and provide for 15 dogs, 9 cats and 4 macaws. Jeff loved them all and referred to them as “the Zoo”.

Everyone who knew Jeff has a “Q” story to tell. He was fun-loving, warm-hearted, and a joy to be around. Whatever task at hand, Jeff was always ready to welcome the challenge with enthusiastic happiness. No matter what you presented him – a tiny fossil or anything related to technology he genuinely felt like it was the best gift ever. His joy was contagious. He was one of those people who “light up the room”. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Jeff’s curiosity echoes with his “Let’s Check It Out” and “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly” approach to life.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Cheree, son Chris and wife Stephanie, granddaughter “Phe”, sister Erika Quinn, nieces River and Dawn Quinn and his parents, Jean and Bob Quinn, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.

Out of an abundance of caution for friends and family, funeral services will be held privately. Croley Funeral Home, Hawkins, TX is assisting with arrangements.
