Janie M Burks

Janie Marie Burks (Goodwin), affectionately known as Mamow, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2024, in Diana, Texas, at the age of 75. Born on November 25, 1948, in Oil City, Louisiana, she was a cherished member of the community and a beacon of love and care to all who knew her.

Janie dedicated many years of her life to Gilmer National Bank as a bank teller, where she was appreciated for her diligent work and kindness. Beyond her professional life, she was deeply passionate about fishing, a hobby that brought her great joy and relaxation.

A true matriarch, Janie was the loving wife of the late Kenneth Burks, and a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her son, Michael Burks and his wife Shonda; grandson Dalton Burks and his wife Mariah; granddaughter Hannah Leleux and her husband Zack; and their children Efton and Ellie. She also leaves behind her brother, Teddy Goodwin. Janie was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and O'Neal Goodwin, and brothers, Billy and Little Mack Goodwin.

Janie's life was marked by her unwavering support for her family, especially evident in her enthusiasm for attending football games to cheer on her son and grandson. Serving others was her purpose in life, a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew her.

Visitation will be held on July 25, from 6-8 PM at Croley (Grubbs Loyd) Funeral Home in Diana, Texas. Funeral services will take place on July 26 at the old Kilgore City cemetery in Kilgore, TX. Croley (Grubbs Loyd) Funeral Home is assisting the family during this time. Janie's life and memory will be cherished by all who knew her, as she continues to live in the hearts of her loved ones.
