Funeral service for Janice Sexton Cox, 71, of Gilmer will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Little Mound Baptist Church in Upshur County with Bro. Dicky Mauk and Bro. Joe White officiating. Interment will be in Little Mound Cemetery in Upshur County under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mrs. Cox passed away Friday, April 17, 2015 in Longview. Mrs. Cox was born March 28, 1944 in Butler County, Ohio to Earl and Ruth Bradley Sexton. She was a housewife, had lived in Upshur County for 15 years and was a member of Little Mound Baptist Church. She survived cancer continuously from 1983 until 2015. She has ended her work here and gone to be with Jesus. Janice did much volunteer work at nursing homes and worked tirelessly for her church, Little Mound Baptist Church to encourage others and to provide flowers to those in hospitals. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charles Robert Cox of Gilmer; son, Martin Cox of Baton Rouge, LA; daughter, Della Wylin of Deer Park, TX; brother, Fred Sexton of Camden, OH; sisters, Jewell Thornton and Peggy Halcomb of Cincinnati, OH; granddaughters, Katelyn Morrison of Minneapolis, MN and Haley Wylin; grandson, Avery Wylin of Deer Park, TX; two loving son-in-laws; brother-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cox is preceded in death by parents, Earl and Ruth Sexton and daughter, Nora Morrison. Pallbearers will be members of her church family. The family request that memorials be made to the Little Mound Missionary Baptist Church General Fund, 3017 State Hwy 154 W, Gilmer, Texas 75644. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 20, 2015 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
