Services for Jan M. Parupia, 55, of Gladewater, will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gladewaer. Born on March 13, 1958, in Tacoma, Washington, she died on Tuesday, October 8, 2013. She was an author and artist. Often she painted window signs downtown for the merchants. She once said, "When I die they can truthfully say that I painted the town red." Jan thoroughly enjoyed writing poetry and fiction stories. Luckily, she realized her lifelong dream of having some of her works published. She was an exceptional baker, especially creating chocolate oatmeal cookies, which were her daughter's favorite ones. Enjoying time spent on the computer, she also found delight in teaching herself many languages. She was a member of the North Loop Church of Christ in Gladewater. She is survived by daughter, Crystal Cheney of Kilgore; grandchild, Lillian Cheney of Kilgore; brother, David Propes of Marshall; sister, Marcy Johnson and husband Barry of Gladewater; and two nephews, Johnny Dougan and wife Veronica of Kilgore and Kodi Propes of Marshall. No visitation is scheduled.
