Due to the current public health situation and mandates set in place for COVID-19, a private family graveside service will be held at Cherokee Cemetery for Mr. James William Twilla, Sr.
Mr. James William Twilla, Sr., 74, of Gilmer, Texas, was born in Memphis, Tennessee on September 22, 1945 and passed away on April 27, 2020 in Gilmer. Mr. Twillia served in the United States Air Force and was an inspector for the Department of Transportation until his retirement. He loved listening to Conway Twitty, Elvis, collecting guns, riding motorcycles, and spending time with his family. Mr. Twilla was also a member of the Patriot Guard Riders and owner of J&J Enterprises.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Twilla of Gilmer; step sons, Kevin Jones and Ashley Noble of Rhonesboro and Johnny Goode of Marion County; sisters, Janice Twilla Jackson of Batesville, MS and Rhonda Twilla Morgan of Greenville, TX; brother, William Waldo Twilla, Jr. of Pocahontas, TN; grandchildren, Easton and Aiden Jones and Russell, Douglas, and J.R. Goode; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Twilla was preceded in death by his wives, Jean Twilla and Pat Twilla; parents, William and Geneva Twilla; son, James "Jay" Twilla; and brother, Ronnie Joe Twilla.
