James Truman Lewis, Jr.

Mr. James Truman Lewis, Jr, age 71 of Gilmer, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Mr. Lewis was born on August 27, 1950, in Greenville, Texas to parents James Truman Lewis, Sr and Betty Rush Montgomery. James was a Volunteer Fire Chief in Gilmer for many years and will be missed by the many friends and family members he leaves behind.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Kenneth Lewis, and infant sister, Lola Lewis.
James is survived by his brothers, Michael Lewis and wife Barbara and Gary Lewis and wife Jennifer; sister, Debbie Smith and husband, Jay; nieces, Melanie Connely and Jennifer Schaeffer; and special nephew, Rowan Schaeffer.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, October 11, 2021, at the Chapel of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, interment to follow at Williams Cemetery in Chapel Hill. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 11:00 AM.
