DIANA � Services for James Stewart Belk, Sr., 84, of Diana will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Diana with Dr. Gary May and Bro. Danny Sammons officiating. Interment will be in the Mattox Cemetery in Upshur County. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana. Mr. Belk passed away Friday, February 1, 2013 in Longview. Mr. Belk was born May 12, 1928 to Earnest Elmer and Emma Jean Stewart Belk. He was raised in Crossett, AR and Opelousas, LA and at the age of 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Army / Air Force Medical Core. He served two years as a medical technician and medical administration specialist in Alaska. Mr. Belk graduated from Opelousas High school in 1950 and received his Bachelor of Arts from Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana in 1954. He worked for many years as a bookkeeper / accountant for various businesses in New Orleans, Alexandria and Shreveport, LA. In addition, he was a Louisiana State Bank Examiner for several years. Mr. Belk moved to Diana, TX in 2005, where he enjoyed his hobbies which included fishing, carpenter, watching LSU football, gardening, spending time with his wife, Peggy, their children, grandchildren, and friends. Met his Savior on December 23, 1951 and was baptized at First Baptist Church, Pineville, LA. and was a member of the First Baptist Church Diana. He was also a member of the Masonic Oliver Lodge #84 of Alexandria, LA and a Shriner. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Peggy Camp Belk of Diana; son, Jim Belk and wife, Yong Hwa Choe of Fort Worth, TX; daughter, Tina Belk Peacock and husband Lewis of Diana, TX; granddaughter, Louann Nicole Peacock; grandson, Jesse Wayne Peacock of Diana; sister, Jean Belk Boehle and husband William of Orlando, FL; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jennie and Henry Rutherford of Farmington, AR and Shirley and John Wells of El Dorado, AR; nieces, Dulcy Boehle, Alison Boehle Jobes and husband Allen of Orlando, Linda Belk Franks and husband Charlie of Alexandria, LA,: Nephews, Robert �Bob� Belk and wife Kellie of Baton Rouge, LA,. Fifteen great-nieces, three great nephews and numerous great-grandnieces and nephews. Mr. Belk is preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Emma Belk; brothers, Robert Belk, Sr. and George Belk; sister-in-law, Barbara Belk, niece, Judy Belk Bozzuto and husband Chuck; great-niece, Laurie Craven Sanders.
