James Nelson Broad

Memorial services for James Nelson Broad, 69, of Longview, will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at 6 P.M. at Lighthouse Church, 5929 W. Marshall, Longview. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. Born on May 26, 1947, in Redding, Pennsylvania, to Kenneth and Laura Rea Broad, he died on Sunday, July 3, 2016, at his residence. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He loved fishing, hunting, and spending quality time with his family. He really liked a good joke. He is survived by his wife, Melvonda Broad of Longview; daughter and son-in-law, Miranda and Randy Tyree of Longview; son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Jodie Broad of Bossier City; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Ben Morris of Gilmer; ten grandchildren, Breezi Khan, Braden Khan, Kynadie Tyree, Mason Broad, Charlotte Broad, Kaylani Broad, Emma Broad, Kaygan Ramsey, Peyton Broad, and Ryker Smiley; three brothers, Edward Broad, Benny Broad, Terry Folk, and two sisters, Maureen Jalbert and Sandy Seltmann. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Justin Blu Broad; and sister, Terrill Dobson. The family would like to express special thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice for their loving care of James while he was at home with his family. No visitation is scheduled.
