GILMER " Funeral services for James Leo "Buddy" Garrison, 84, of Bettie will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Richard Wells officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Upshur County. Buddy passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015 in Longview. He was born on January 24, 1931 in Longview to James Roland and Elizabeth Alberts Garrison. Early in his career, he worked for the Grand Prairie, Texas Police Department, then he became a Production Manager for Universal Furniture, and finally after retiring and moving to Bettie, Texas, he worked in maintenance as a handyman for Union Hill School District. Buddy was a member of the Simpsonville Baptist Church. Mr. Garrison is survived by his children, Dennis Garrison, Melanie Richards, Jeff Raulston, Jacquelyn Ackerman, Valerie Remonte, Justin Hooten, Jason Garrison; grandchildren, Conner Hill, Bryanna Remonte, Savannah Raulston, and Rachel Greeley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Garrison and his parents. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 1:00 PM until time of service.
