If you knew Jimmy, you knew laughter. If you knew Jimmy, you knew loyalty. If you knew Jimmy, you knew he was a die-hard Cowboys fan. If you knew Jimmy, you probably knew more about sports and music than you really cared to (and if you didn’t you weren’t listening). If you knew Jimmy, you knew someone who loved and cherished his family. If you knew Jimmy, you know his family extended beyond blood. If you are his family, you know how deeply he loved you. And you know he can’t be replaced.
James Edward "Jimmy" Kissee was born in Tyler, TX on August 21, 1970, to James Everett and Dana Kaye Kissee. During his childhood he also lived in California and Missouri. In 1988, he graduated from Gladewater High School in Texas before attending Ambassador College in Big Sandy. As an adult, Jimmy lived in Missouri and North Carolina before moving back home to Texas. For the last decade, Jimmy found success in a rewarding career as a Talent Acquisition Manager.
Jimmy was easy to love. He was a laser beam of positivity, despite his lifelong struggle with health issues, and made friends wherever he went. Always carrying a smile on his face, he lit up any room he walked into. Being “Uncle Jimmy” was one of the things he cherished most in his life.
Jimmy had a lifelong interest in history, sports, and music. His quick wit and abundant knowledge of somewhat useless facts always made for interesting conversations. He loved to help others and was an excellent shoulder to lean on – listening and laughing through hard topics, then offering sage and timely advice.
Jimmy passed away peacefully in his home in Plano, TX on November 20, 2024. He is survived by his mother Kaye and stepfather James Roberts; sister and brother-in-law Janna and Nate Jones, nephew and niece Zander and Lilah; brother and sister-in-law Joe and Rachel Kissee, nephews Andrew, Evan, and Isaac; and many beloved cousins and friends. Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, James Kissee.
Celebration of life will be held Sunday, December 1, 2024 at Croley Funeral Home starting at 1:00PM. A private graveside was held at Gladewater Memorial Park.
