James Jones, Jr.

Funeral service for James Jones, Jr. 77 of Big Sandy, will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2015 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Bro. David Reeder officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Upshur County. Mr. Jones passed away on Tuesday, March, 10, 2015 in Longview He was born on November 1, 1937, in Queen City, Texas to James S. Jones Sr. and Leole Welchel Jones. Mr. Jones Jr. served in the U. S. Air Force and on November 17, 1961, he married Mable Saylors. He was a welder for Vessel Technologies until his retirement and of the Baptist faith. Mr. Jones loved to fish and grow a garden. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Mable Jones of Big Sandy; sons, James Richard Jones and wife, Janie of Big Sandy and Terry Jones of San Antonio; daughters, Tammy Sue Armstrong and husband, Dean of Big Sandy, Tena Renee Johnson and Paul of Gilmer and Samantha Yvonne Cruz of Longview; 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Alice Howell; brother, Jessie Marshall Jones and son-in-law, Charlie Cruz. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
