James Henry Townsend

Memorial service for James Henry Townsend, 87, of Gladewater, Texas, will be Friday, March 16, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Gladewater, Texas. Jim passed away in his home on March 14, 2018.

He was born August 12, 1930 in Marthaville, Louisiana. Jim received his GED while serving in the U.S. Army. He served in Italy, Germany, Korea and Vietnam, until his retirement in 1968. He married Sue Hearing and they have spent the last 39 years together. Jim was Baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents Jake and Ola Bell Townsend, his daughter Chauncey Townsend, and his brothers Larry, Dewey, Don and Harry, and his sister Frankie.

He is survived by his loving wife; Sue , son; James Townsend and wife Patti, and step children; Donna McMillan and husband Tommy, Veronica King, Susie Marsh and husband Dale, BillieJo Saunders and husband Jeff, and David Hearing, 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, his brother Sylvester, and his sisters Bonita, Nellie and Effie, also many nieces, nephews and friends.
