James Edwin Turner

Funeral services for James Edwin Turner, 80, of Gilmer will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 13, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Gilmer with Brother Marion Palmer officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home. Mr. Turner passed away Saturday, at his residence. Mr. Turner was born October 23, 1930 in Wood County to William Wylie and Mattliane Hill Turner. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army " Korea, retired owner of Turner"s Super Service from 1973 to 1993, had lived in Upshur County most of his life, and a member of First Baptist Church in Gilmer. He is survived by his wife: Vickie Turner of Gilmer; sons: Eddie Turner of Palestine and Barry Turner of Aubrey; grandchildren: Alex Albright, Gregory Albright, and David Gray; great-grandchildren: Madison Wall and Jaxton Garcia. Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers will be Aryon McGuire, Steve Sansom, J.L. Shaw, Bill McGuffin, James Johnson, and Richard Yazell. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Thomas Sunday School Class. Memorial contributions can be made to the Etex Chapter Pilots for Christ, P.O. Box 220, Gilmer, Texas. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m, Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Croley Funeral Home Gilmer.
