James David Carter, 67 of Gilmer passed on Saturday, April 3, 2021 in Tyler, Texas. James was born on September 20, 1953 in Gilmer to the late James and Mary Anne Simmons Carter.
James worked at the Longview Morning News for several years and was a member of the Little Mound Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed making jewelry, riding motorcycles, hanging out with his dogs, and doing crossword puzzles. James also loved to play the guitar, and going hunting and fishing. James is survived by his son, James David Carter, Jr. and wife, Dana; daughters, Mary Jenkins, Charlotte Lyons, and Susie Carter; brother, Dennis Carter and wife, Tina; sister, Debra Carter; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Deborah Carter; and sister, Charlotte Diane Gentry. Graveside service will be held Friday, April 9, 2021, 1:00 P.M. at Bluff Springs Cemetery with Bro. Michael Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 12:30 P.M. prior to the service on Friday.
