James Allen DeCuir

A Mass of Christian Burial for James Allen DeCuir, 74 of Big Sandy will be celebrated 11 A.M. Saturday, January 20, 2018, at St Theresa Catholic Church in Union Grove with Rev. Mark Dunne officiating, interment will follow at Chilton Cemetery under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. A Rosary will be recited, 6:00 P.M. Friday, January 19, 2018 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with visitation to follow. Mr. DeCuir passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 in Big Sandy.

Mr. DeCuir was born October 26, 1943 in Nederland, TX to the late Leonce J. and Elvina Palumbo DeCuir and later married the love of his life, Monica Baird DeCuir. James proudly served in the United States Air Force and was a retired Peace Officer serving as Police Chief in Gilmer and Big Sandy, he also held the position as Fire Chief in Big Sandy. Mr. DeCuir was also a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church.

Mr. DeCuir is survived by his wife; Monica DeCuir of Big Sandy, sons; Chad DeCuir and wife Brandy of Big Sandy, Bradlee DeCuir of Big Sandy, sister; Beatrice Waddell of Houston, and grandchild; Hayden DeCuir.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
