Jacquelyn Arlene Thomas, 83, of Big Sandy, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021. She was born November 6, 1937 in Cortland, New York to the late Jesse Lawrence Maybury and Mary Martha Post.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Worth Thomas, sons, Duane Alvin Ames, Dean Gregory Ames and sister, Kay Marion.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Lynn and her husband, Rocky Ware and grandchildren: Josiah Lee Ware, Victoria Lynn Ware, Gregory Ryan Ames and his wife, Amanda; David Michael Ames, and Crystal Renee Ames. Her siblings, including her brother, Donald Maybury and his wife, Jane, of Waterloo, New York and her sister, Martha Haney of Jacksonville, Florida. Jacquelyn Arlene will be lovingly remembered by her six nieces and nephews and their families.

After graduation from Homer Central High School, in Homer, New York, Jacquelyn Arlene worked as a time keeper for Smith-Corona Marchant, Inc. in Cortland, New York. She left this position to place all her love and energy into raising her family. Jacquelyn Arlene enjoyed welcoming family and friends into the home on Cold Brook Road. She could always be found refinishing antiques, reupholstering furniture, sewing, and managing all the tasks needed to run the small family farm. She even, occasionally helped her husband work on the engine or painting of a classic car. Jacquelyn Arlene was a multi-talented, beautiful lady, with a warm smile, engaging laugh, and an adventurous spirit. She will be forever remembered with love by family and friends and all those who were blessed to know her.
